The extraordinary growth of in-play betting – initially an online phenomenon – is also now very noticeable in the UK betting shop retail estate, according to a recent survey by industry magazine, Betview.
Betview commissioned Ipsos MediaCT to survey almost 500 industry professionals, the vast majority of which were betting shop managers. 68% of respondents said they had witnessed an increase in in-play sports betting in the last two years. 67% expected to see that growth continue over the next 12 months.
According to Betview: “Sport, and in particular football, accompanied by in-play betting, seems to be what appeals to a younger betting demographic”
